Deliveries have started!
Julie Boucher describes the King George Summer Lunch Bunch program and how it began.
This year's program is dedicated to the memory of Janice Shelton
King George Summer Lunch Bunch is conducting its fourteenth summer of feeding hungry children in King George County, and we need your help! During the school year, students receive free, subsidized meals. When school closes for the summer, so ends these meals. Our organization’s goal is to bridge the nutritional gap this summer, helping families stretch their available food dollars. This helps these children return for a new school year in a better position to resume learning. And with the cost of groceries and gas continuing to rise, the need for assistance is even greater than before.
This summer we will deliver lunches two days per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays during June and July. Our program will begin on Thursday, June 8, and will end on Thursday, July 27. We will not deliver on Tuesday, July 4. We will be operating out of the cafeteria at Potomac Elementary School. We need human resources: your help, your time, and your commitment to help us to meet this challenge. We do not need donations at this time.
